Sure you can build them "cheap", I did up a 406 for 1500.00 top too bottom, but in the end i was disappointed, Any decent engine these days will not be cheap IF you want power out of it & want it to last. I have about 3000.00 in my 469 BBC & it has stock heads that only have 175.00 in them, I had the lower end balanced with all the good stuff ....

That The longer rod gives more duration at tdc and yes you can run higher comp on them if I rember right. yes you have to use special pistons, it allows you to rev higher but I think if any thing it hurts torque. My machinest said more often than not people like the 5.7's more.
